This free, downloadable art assignment was designed by Los Angeles-based artist Jesse Benson for Corita Art Center, in collaboration with The Center in Hollywood. It was originally developed as part of a multi-week collaborative social outreach exchange with The Center in the summer of 2022 hosted by Durant Branch Library for patrons experiencing homelessness.
Through partnered programs like this, as well as the Plorkbook—our Corita-inspired journal and workbook that we provide for free to our network of organizations and collaborators supporting in-need communities—we seek to support our unhoused neighbors by encouraging creativity and wellness. As one participant at the workshop shared, “it makes your day a lot brighter to be able to make artwork knowing that you produce it, that you’re contributing something to the community.”
